MacKenzie Butler
MacKenzie “Mac” Butler is an owner and operator of Gate Creek Lodge in remote Petersville, Alaska. Born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area, he competed as a college athlete and completed a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. Mac is an Army Veteran, former airborne paratrooper, who earned the coveted U.S. Army Ranger tab.
For nearly a decade, Mac has worked in challenging outdoor and wilderness environments, and is now the owner of Gate Creek Lodge with his beloved wife Ellie. Holding certifications in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, BLS, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care; Mac brings together his military service, wilderness proficiency, and sincere dedication to gospel outreach to foster meaningful connection with God's creation; while educating and inspiring young men to lead in challenging environments.
Grant Miller
Grant Miller was born and raised in Milford, Ohio. After high school, Grant attended Tiffin University, where he and his best friend, Mac, spent four years as college teammates. The two built a lifelong bond, founded on a shared love for God. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Marketing and his MBA, Grant co-founded a Best-in-Business Ohio Award–winning gym and has gone on to coach and teach at both the high school and collegiate levels.
Grant has also served honorably as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In addition to a number of certifications in coaching, teaching, and personal training, Grant is also certified in CPR and Tactical Combat Casualty Care. An avid outdoorsman, he finds unparalleled joy in God’s word and creation, and is driven by a passion to share the joy and hope of the Christian faith with the next generation.
